For First Half of 2018, Port of Virginia Volume Growth Projected to Be Strong

The Port of Virginia’s import-container business for the first half of 2018, compared with the same period last year, is projected to outpace that of the nation’s major retail container ports overall, according to the Washington, D.C.-based National Retail Federation, the world’s largest trade group, and Hackett Associates, a consulting firm.



Morgan Truck Body to Open $19 Million Connecticut Factory

The Connecticut Bond Commission on Feb. 16 approved a $4 million loan to Morgan Truck Body, which builds dry freight and refrigerated truck bodies for companies throughout the country. The company plans to construct a $19 million manufacturing plant that is expected to create more than 100 new jobs, according to bond commission minutes.



Steamship Line Hapag-Lloyd Raises Fees

Steamship line Hapag-Lloyd will increase fees to transport freight to the United States and cross-border freight from Canada. Cargo between Canada and the United States will be subject to a carbon tax.
